'Georgie asked me questions: deep questions that I wouldn’t ever ask myself, and through self-awareness, wants and needs becomes clearer, and in fact solutions come.'
When starting coaching with Georgie I sort of knew what to expect from Georgie herself: an amazing person, full of life and energy. But I didn’t know what to expect from the process; I didn’t really have any goals I was trying to achieve or need a massive boost of motivation to help me transform my world. I was just feeling a bit stuck – I knew I wanted something to be different, but I didn’t know what. Enter Georgie!
Georgie has a fantastic relaxed style when coaching – it feels like talking to a good friend. But the more we talked the more I realised that Georgie was absorbing everything I said, and was able to play it back to me with startling clarity and insight. Georgie asked me questions: deep questions that I wouldn’t ever ask myself, and through self-awareness, wants and needs becomes clearer, and in fact solutions come.
So I’ve done some self help stuff before, and read a few books. I’ve also experienced some coaching from other people… I have had a problem previously with coaches and the concept of “content imposition” - where someone tries to give you their map of the world, to make you feel the way they feel or think the way they think, or how they’ve “been through it and know the answer”. It grates on my nerves and creates a resistance within me.
With Georgie, I don’t get this friction. Georgie can see the world as I see it, and then help me find the balance I need within myself to progress. Georgie gives me the space I need to think – there are no awkward silences, just deep reflection and insightful conversation; there’s never any pressure.
The biggest gift I got from working with Georgie was clarity. Through self awareness, and Georgie’s questioning skills, and her ability to play back what I’m saying in a new way, I came to understand exactly what I want. This is a tremendous gift, and is what I really needed: specific knowledge of what I want, why, and my next step to go and get it.
